Covid-19 has affected global growth, which is decreasing rapidly. It has therefore been decided to give the Danish economy a helping hand so that Danish businesses will not be under pressure as far as liquidity is concerned.
Therefore the deadline for the payment of VAT is postponed temporarily. This will create a liquidity buffer for businesses. The deadline for the payment by large businesses of VAT for three monthly instalments (payments for March, April and May) is postponed by 30 days.
Large businesses are defined as businesses with an annual turnover of more than DKK 50 million. It is with some uncertainty estimated that this will strengthen the liquidity of the businesses by about DKK 35 billion. It is now being examined whether the VAT periods can be extended for small and medium-sized businesses.
